The University of Hocking makes its first ever Beard Bowl appearance when the Handlebars (10-2) take on the Beards (10-2). The Beards defeated the Handlebars in a low scoring affair (9-0) earlier in the season and boast a 9-1 all-time record in the Beard Bowl. What will happen when the OFHC's top two teams square off one final time? Kickoff for Beard Bowl XVII is scheduled for noon from Columbus.

When the Beards (9-2) square off against the Summit Soul Patches (9-2) this holiday weekend, it'll be for an OFHC title and a birth in Beard Bowl XVII. Watching intently will be the Hocking Handlebars, who finished 10-2 and have a bye this week. Should the Beards lose, Hocking wins the OFHC title tiebreaker and faces Summit in the Beard Bowl. Kickoff is set for 3:30 from Howie Mandel Field.

Fans recall last year's "Guy Fawkes Fight" that saw a pre-game brawl result in the ejection of 18 players, including HU's starting QB. When the 2017 season began, few prognosticators imagined the path to Beard Bowl XVII would go through the University of Hocking. Standing atop the OFHC at 7-1, the Handlebars control their own destiny and seek their first post-season berth. However, should the Beards (6-2) defeat Hocking, they would move into a 1st Place tie and hold the tiebreaker. Kickoff is set for noon from Sam Elliott Stadium.

With the Beards and Muttonchops tied for 2nd at 5-2, the winner can remain just 1 game out of 1st... with both squads having yet to play the University of Hocking. After two huge victories over two big-time opponents (56-45 over the Fu Manchus and 48-7 over the War Whiskers), the Battling Beards (4-2) seemingly have their season back on track. If the Beards hope to stay in contention for Beard Bowl XVII, however, they'll have to figure out a way to stop the tricky triple-option offense of the University of Fairfield French Forks. Thanks to a major overhaul that saw a new QB, new WR, and new Offensive Coordinator, Hartnell University coasted to a convincing 56-45 victory over the Fu Manchus. The Beards return home against the War Whiskers in hopes of continuing this much-needed offensive swagger in a rematch of last year's Beard Bowl. Get ready for some new unis, fans! Major changes are expected this week as the Beards try to forget their abysmal offensive showing in the loss to Champaign State. After dropping both home games, the good news is the Beards are 2-0 on the road. The bad news is they travel to their rivals, the University of Fayette. The Beards evened the all-time series after last year's 16-13 2OT win. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm in a rare Thursday game from Ming Stadium.

Montgomery University sent shock waves throughout the college football landscape with what many are dubbing the "kick heard 'round the world". The 30-27 stunning home loss was the first for the Beards since 2014. Coach Alpheus Williams' "24-hour" rule will be tested when the Beards host an undefeated and plucky Champaign State squad. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30pm from Hartnell Stadium.

After opening with two road games, the Beards return home to take on Montgomery University. Fans remember the controversy surrounding MU's admission into the OFHC in 2010 because it gave the conference 11 teams and disrupted several rivalries. This often gives the Mustaches a "chip" on their shoulder when they play any of the original members. Upset alert? Kickoff is scheduled for noon from Hartnell Stadium.

After a dominating road performance against Guernsey State, the Battling Beards travel to Cuyahoga University to face their former Offensive Coordinator William B. Hazen. Hazen served as the OC for Hartnell University from 2001-2015. The Beards beat Hazen and the Chinstraps 56-3 last season and look to continue their winning ways. Kickoff is scheduled for noon from The Big Chin.

Coming off a victory in Beard Bowl XVI and Back-to-Back OFHC championships in 2016, the Battling Beards of Hartnell University kick off the 2017 season by traveling to Guernsey State University. The Beards dispatched the Goatees 35-6 in last year's opener to improve their all-time record against GSU to 15-1. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30pm from Devil's Den, a notoriously difficult place to play.
