As a surprise to our relatives and guests, Molly and I arranged to have Sparty come to our wedding! (Molly wasn't too keen on having Sparty walk her down the aisle, so we settled on the reception, instead!) Keeping it a secret was tough, especially because I knew it would be a HUGE hit!

I contacted MSU's Alumni Club, who helped me make the arrangements. We went so far as to make up a fake backstory for the guy who would "play" Sparty and his friend who would accompany him to Columbus. Operating as old college friends of mine, the two arrived, met many of my relatives, found their table, and enjoyed dinner - their cue to go change was our first dance.

After our first dance, the DJ said, "Ladies and gentlemen, we have a special guest here tonight. All the way from East Lansing, let's give it up for Sparty!!!" He then fired up the MSU Fight Song, and out of the doors charged Sparty! The place went crazy!

I especially appreciated the fact that Sparty came properly dressed for the occassion. Spartan green goes well with a black tux.

Sparty hit on Molly - frequently - but I was okay with that... I mean... did you see the size of his arms?!!

Sparty did his thing out on stage before being snagged by just about everyone for a photo opt! (From left-to-right: Kevin Haack, Cousin Dave, Jason Hamilton, brother Nate, and me.)

Does Sparty's thumb look broken?
